URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Canopy Club is about to get a little hazier—and a lot more hilarious. “Reefer Madness: The Musical,” presented by The Dispensary, is coming to town for four performances from July 11–13.
Inspired by the cult 1936 propaganda film, this satirical stage adaptation dives headfirst into the absurd hysteria surrounding marijuana. Audiences will follow clean-cut teens Jimmy and Mary as they spiral into chaos, jazz, sex, and violence—all thanks to the “devastating” effects of cannabis.
Performances start this Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. (Opening Night), Saturday, July 12 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 13 at 2 p.m. (Closing Matinee). Student and senior tickets are just $13.
All shows take place at The Canopy Club, 708 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. across the street in the Krannert Center garage.
