CHAMPAIGN, IL – (Chambana Today) The City of Champaign has unveiled a new website to keep residents informed about events and programs happening at the newly opened Downtown Plaza. This move is part of the city’s broader effort to activate the space with regular entertainment and family-friendly activities throughout the summer.
In addition to the city’s ongoing seasonal programming, two weekly entertainment series are now underway: Sound Bites will be held every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The lunchtime concert series invites attendees to enjoy live music while grabbing lunch from local restaurants in the downtown area. On Tuesdays from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Rhythm and Roots will bring live performances to the Champaign Farmers Market. The weekly event also includes a Kids Corner, featuring games, puzzles, hair braiding, and other activities to engage young visitors.
During the farmers market, the Downtown Plaza will be designated a Downtown Festival District, allowing adults to purchase alcoholic beverages from nearby establishments and enjoy them within the event space. More details and a full calendar of Downtown Plaza events can be found on the city’s newly launched website.
