SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has published the 2025 prevailing wage rates for construction trades across all 102 counties, reinforcing the state’s commitment to fair compensation and a competitive public works market.
The new rates, which took effect July 15, are based on IDOL’s annual survey under the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, which ensures that workers on publicly funded construction projects are paid wages in line with local standards.
“These rates ensure that workers are paid fairly and that responsible contractors have a level playing field when bidding for public works projects,” said Jane Flanagan, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor.
The prevailing wage includes base hourly pay plus fringe benefits, reflecting the typical compensation earned by workers in each locality. The aim is to ensure that taxpayer dollars stay within the Illinois economy, supporting local workers and reducing the incentive to cut corners on labor costs.
Anyone wishing to object to the posted rates has until August 14, to file a written objection with the Department. Valid objections will be reviewed by an Administrative Law Judge.
The full 2025 wage schedule, searchable by county and trade, is available on the IDOL website.
