DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Fire Department will bid farewell to one of its most respected leaders this week, as Captain Neil Yelenick retires after nearly 27 years of service to the city.
Captain Yelenick served with the department for 26 years and 11 months, earning a reputation for professionalism, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. He was honored during a ceremonial “walk-out” at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, at Fire Station #3, at 1111 North Griffin Street in Danville.
Following the walk-out, a welcome reception was held for friends, family, fellow firefighters, and members of the community to celebrate his career and wish him well in retirement.
