CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Illinois American Water has issued two boil orders for parts of Champaign and Urbana following separate incidents over the weekend.
In Urbana, the order affects University Avenue from McCullough Street to North Coler Avenue after emergency valve replacement work began Friday night. The order is expected to be lifted Sunday evening. In Champaign, residents along Winchester Drive north of Windsor Road to Sumac Drive are under a boil order following a Sunday morning main break. That advisory is expected to be lifted Tuesday afternoon.
During a boil order, any water used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for five minutes. Customers will be notified once testing confirms water is safe to drink.
