URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The City of Urbana Committee of the Whole is scheduled to meet Monday, March 2 at 7 p.m. at 400 South Vine Street to review several traffic ordinances and public works initiatives.
The meeting, chaired by Ward 1 Alderperson Maryalice Wu, included discussion of updates to the city’s local traffic code, a public works campus remodel report, and multiple resolutions related to infrastructure improvements.
Among the items under new business:
- Ordinance No. 2026-03-006, which would require stop signs at Grove Street and Anderson Street at High Street. Council members were also set to consider Ordinance No. 2026-03-007, prohibiting parking at all times on Vine Street from Pell Circle to Florida Avenue.
- Another proposed ordinance would require stop signs at four intersections within the Beringer Commons subdivision.
- In addition to traffic changes, council members were scheduled to consider Resolution No. 2026-03-009R, authorizing the mayor to execute a right-of-way dedication along North Lincoln Avenue at the site of the former Fire Station #3.
- A separate resolution would authorize improvements under the Illinois Highway Code using state Motor Fuel Tax funds for Windsor Road from Philo Road to High Cross Road.
- The agenda also included a staff report regarding the Public Works campus remodel and funding considerations.
- Residents were encouraged to participate in public input either in person or by email. Public comments submitted before adjournment would be entered into the public record with identifying information redacted.
All meetings of the City of Urbana are broadcast on Urbana Public Television and livestreamed online through the city’s website. The Committee of the Whole reviews agenda items before they move forward to the full City Council for consideration.
