URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana currently has several elected positions available in the 2025 Consolidated Primary Election scheduled for Feb. 25, 2025.
Current city clerk Darcy E. Sandefur has announced that election packets for these positions is now available at the city’s website and for in-person pickup at the Urbana City Clerk’s Office located at 400 S. Vine St. Interested parties can pick up packets Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Positions available are:
- Mayor
- City Clerk
- Alderman Ward 1 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 2 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 3 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 4 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 5 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 6 (council member)
- Alderman Ward 7 (council member)
- Township Supervisor – Town of Cunningham (Cunningham Township)
- Township Assessor – Town of Cunningham (Cunningham Township)
The key dates provided in this guide apply to several categories of candidates:
- Established Political Parties: Candidates in municipalities with populations over 5,000.
- Townships in Cook County: Also, townships in other counties with populations of 15,000 or more, where the township central committee has approved a primary.
- Small Municipalities: Municipalities with populations of 5,000 or less, which nominate candidates via a primary process.
- Municipalities Conducting Primaries by Referendum: These can be either partisan or nonpartisan primaries.
- Managerial Municipalities: These municipalities conduct nonpartisan primaries.
- City of Chicago Offices: If a special election is required due to a vacancy.
