CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The League of Women Voters of Champaign County (LWV) is hosting a Zoom webinar to help generate interest – and answer questions – on being an election judge. The online event will be held tonight from 7-8 p.m.
There will be two staff members from the Champaign County Clerk’s office to lead the “Ins and Outs of Being an Election Judge in Champaign County.” Election judge responsibilities include opening and closing the polls, helping with voting questions, and verifying voter status.
Election judges receive $220 for working 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5. Prospective election judges must attend the training and pass a test to be considered.
The requirements, duties and expectations of an election judge will all be covered in the Zoom call. Attendees will also learn the how to apply, what training they need, and how election judges are paid.
