URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Urbana School District #116 received their grades from the Illinois State Board of Education. The Illinois Report Card assesses academic achievement, student and teacher information, and financial data at the state, district, and school levels. USD116 has focused itself on school improvement goals in teaching and learning, reading/language arts, mathematics, and chronic absenteeism.

Once of the District’s main goals at the start of the school year was to focus on chronic absenteeism. The 24-25 report card data reflects a decrease of 5% in the chronic absenteeism numbers (from 49% to 44%). This was a result of their “Attendance Matters Campaign”. Urbana’s chronic absenteeism improved by 4.1% from September 2023 to September 2024.

Urbana High School saw improvement in its four-year graduation rate, to 83% from 80%. The graduation rate for Career and Technical Education (CTE) increased this year to 94.4% from 90.8%.
