CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Kendall Bostic’s standout performances earned her the first Big Ten Player of the Week award of her career. The fifth-year senior helped propelled the Illinois Fighting Illini to a 5-0 start with dominant play, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and one steal per game while maintaining a flawless zero-turnover record.

The Kokomo, Indiana native shot an impressive 83.9% from the field, connecting on 26-of-31 attempts, and converted all four of her free throws. Her 26 field goals made across the week were more than all but two Big Ten players attempted, and she was the only player in the conference to notch two 20-point games, including a career-high 31-point outing.

In Illinois’ first game of the week, Bostic recorded the 36th double-double of her career, scoring 25 points on 11-of-13 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action.

The highlight of the week came during Illinois’ victory over Oregon State, where Bostic reached a historic milestone. She became just the fourth player in program history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds as an Illini. She also moved into second place on Illinois’ career rebounding list with 1,045 boards. Bostic capped the game with a career-best 31 points and added eight rebounds in 32 minutes.

Bostic’s performances marked the fifth and sixth 20-point games of her career and her first-ever 30-point game.

The last Fighting Illini player to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors was Genesis Bryant, who received back-to-back Co-Player of the Week awards during the 2022-23 season.
