URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Public Works Director has declared the sidewalk snow and ice removal requirement in effect for the Downtown, University, and South Philo Road snow removal districts.

This declaration follows the accumulation of ice and/or two inches or more of snow on sidewalks due to the ongoing winter storm. To ensure pedestrian safety, City ordinance requires that public sidewalks within these districts be cleared by adjacent property owners within 24 hours of the declaration. Property owners must have sidewalks cleared by 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 7.

If sidewalks are not cleared by this deadline, the City may clear them at the expense of the adjacent property owner, and additional fines and administrative fees may apply.
