Chick-fil-A lets Illinois students kick for free season tickets

The kicks will take place toward the south goal post on the field at Memorial Stadium. Check-in for students will be in the northwest tunnel of Memorial Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m. Students are required to fill out the RSVP here and be a 2025 season ticket holder to participate. University of Illinois i-cards will be required for check-in.

City of Champaign hosting Community Development Week Kickoff Celebration

According to the Council of State Community Development Agencies, National Community Development Week was created in 1986 by the National Community Development Association and other organizations to bring attention to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) when the program was facing scrutiny by Congress. It also provides the opportunity to support the HOME Investment Partnerships program. The point of week is to raise awareness of the impact and need for CDBG and HOME funding.

Urbana juvenile arrested with more than 500 grams of cannabis-infused edibles on school property

The juvenile was also arrested on possession with intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis-infused edibles on Urbana School District property. An investigation began after a student sought medical attention and was found to have consumed cannabis edibles. Urbana Police School Resource Officers in collaboration with Urbana School District officials began their investigation. They then identified and apprehended the suspect and he was transported Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center, where he is being held pending future court proceedings.

Champaign-Urbana Public Health District launches Champaign County Health Atlas

The Atlas is a new online public health interactive data platform. The tool makes it easier, faster, and more intuitive for stakeholders to find and analyze health data to support public health initiatives. There are over 100 health indicators available and users can explore data visualizations in maps, charts, graphs, and tables tailored to Champaign County’s unique needs. The tool helps identify community health trends, inform funding priorities, and improve collaboration across sectors.

American Red Cross blood donation opportunities coming up in Champaign County

April is National Volunteer Month and the Red Cross depends on thousands of volunteers to collect more than 12,000 blood donations and 3,000 platelet donations every single day. Type O blood and platelets are especially needed to fully stock hospitals with lifesaving blood products. Blood drives and donation centers depend on the people who make it possible for the Red Cross to help those in need. As the Spring season comes around, activities fill calendars.

Morrissey Park parkrun celebrates its one-year anniversary

Parkrun started in the United Kingdom and now has over 2,500 locations in 23 countries including 80 in the United States, with four in Illinois. The Morrisey Park parkrun held its first event on May 4, 2024, and will be celebrating its one year anniversary on May 10. Morrisey Park has had a total of 47 events with 884 finishes from 266 participants.

Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend organizes CPR training program

The final session is on Friday, April 25 at 3:00 p.m. The program will be open to the public interested in taking part. The training will be a part of Race Weekend and will also take place inside Memorial Stadium. The program was created after last year’s Race Weekend, where 45-year-old Christie surgeon Rafael Ruggieri suffered a cardiac arrest while running in the Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon.

Jay & Silent Bob’s Aural Sects Tour comes to Virginia Theater

Jason Mewes became a pop culture icon since his debut in 1994’s Clerks. Cult-fans followed his controversial antics with his longtime friend Kevin Smith. They continue to build on their character roles from the Jay and Silent Bob series. The duo returned in 2019 in the Jay and Silent Bob reboot. They then returned in 2022 in Kevin Smith’s Clerks III.
