Danville Police Detectives arrested and booked 44-year-old Shane A. May of Danville of charges of First Degree Murder. May was arrested about eight hours after officers received a call about a deceased person in the 700 block of Sherman Street. After an investigation with Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, and several community members, probable cause was developed to arrest May for the murder of Monty Peplow.
An autopsy will be completed tomorrow and the investigation is being considered a homicide. The DPD is questioning a person of interest in this incident. The DPD does not believe there is a further threat to the community and no further information can be provided at this time. This is a developing story.
