Illinois will be facing Alabama in Chicago

Illinois has played a total of 56 games at the United Center in total, with a 38-18 record. The Illini are 19-9 in regular-season games at the UC, including an 18-8 mark against non-conference teams. Their last visit was for the 2023 Big Ten Tournament. The Fighting Illini also played a regular season game there during the 2018 to 2019 season and played a non-conference regular season game in 2017 to 2018.

Champaign County launches task force in response to carbon capture and storage projects

In response to growing interest in carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects across Illinois, the Champaign County Board has established the Champaign County CO2 Sequestration Activities Task Force (3CSATF). The task force will proactively study the potential impacts of CCS on the environment and public health, and develop ordinances to regulate such activities in the county. The 3CSATF is comprised of local officials, scientists, engineers, and public health professionals.

Urbana Park District breaks ground for new bike pavilion at Weaver Park

Champaign Crimestoppers needs your help investigating a shooting in Urbana

On April 11, 2021, at approximately 4:37 p.m., a shooting occured in the 1100 block of Webber Street. Responding officers arrived on scene to find Musah lying in a yard with a gunshot wound. Officers and paramedics then immediately provided lifesaving care as he was tranported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation indicated the victim was believed to be letting out a dog for a friend when he was approached and shot.

City of Champaign hosting 2025 Champaign Neighborhood Network Conference

The conference will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the I Hotel and Conference Center. The conference provides resources, tools, and information to increase the capacity of neighborhood residents, volunteers, and grassroots organizers to positively impact their neighborhoods using community engagement. It includes 18 shops from several departments, institutions, and community partners related to maintaining a vibrant and engaged neighborhood.
