Illinois State Police to honor fallen troopers during National Police Week 2025

The Illinois State Police (ISP) will join departments from across the country in Washington D.C. for National Police Week, held May 11 through May 17, 2025. The annual observance honors the sacrifice of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, including ISP’s own Trooper Corey Thompsen and Trooper Clay Carns, who both lost their lives in 2024 due to injuries sustained in traffic crashes.

Danville police investigating apparent murder-suicide on Grace Street

On the evening of May 9, 2025, at approximately 5:57 PM, Danville Police Department (DPD) officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Grace Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 32-year-old woman lying in the front yard of a residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
