Champaign Police continue to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash that occurred in the 500 block of N. Market Street on Tuesday night. Emergency responders reported to the scene, and traffic in the area was diverted for a short time as officers work to determine the cause of the collision.
A Mahomet man was cited for a Scott’s Law violation after Illinois State Police said he struck a stopped squad car on March 1 near Chebanse. The incident occurred when a State Police trooper responded to debris in the road on I-57 at approximately 2 p.m. The trooper parked in the right lane with emergency lights flashing and was removing the debris when the Lincoln SUV driven by 66-year-old Harold McComb of Mahomet hit the squad car from behind.
