An investigation is ongoing following a Sunday afternoon shooting in Champaign that left one person injured.
A bicyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Interstate 74 near Urbana on Sunday night. The incident occurred in the eastbound lane of I-74, near milepost 183, with State Police responding to the scene at approximately 7:45 p.m.

The NWS warning indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, with “quarter-size hail” reported in the area near the Village of Pesotum, roughly 14 miles south of Champaign-Urbana.
Officers arrived and learned the male driver ran into the woods west of the crash site. Witnesses provided a clear and accurate description of the suspect which allowed the officers to check the woods.
