HENSLEY TOWNSHIP, (CHAMBANA TODAY) – On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at approximately 11:02 pm, Champaign County deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident in Hensley Township. The investigation determined that Unit 1 was Northbound on 900 E at approximately 2400 N when it crossed into the Southbound lanes and was struck by Unit 2, which was Southbound.
The driver of Unit 1 died as a result of the accident. A passenger of Unit 2 was airlifted to Carle Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of Unit 2 was taken to Carle Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The names of those involved are not yet being released.
This accident continues to be under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and our accident investigators.
