MADISON, WI (Chambana Today) – Illinois suffered a 95-74 defeat at the hands of #11 Wisconsin on Tuesday, ending their nine-game win streak over the Badgers and a four-game winning streak in Madison that dates back to 2019.
Despite the loss, Illinois’ Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn had a standout performance, leading the team with 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds. This marked his ninth game of the season scoring in double figures. Gibbs-Lawhorn also knocked down multiple 3-pointers for the seventh time this season, a notable achievement after a six-game drought from beyond the arc.
Ben Humrichous contributed 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and added four rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal. This was his 10th double-figure scoring game of the season and his 14th game with multiple 3-pointers. Humrichous has made at least one three-pointer in 24 out of 27 games.
Will Riley also had a strong showing with 11 points, three rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal, marking his seventh consecutive game scoring in double figures.
Despite individual successes, the Illini were unable to contain Wisconsin’s offensive attack and fell short of a comeback. Illinois travels to Madison Square Garden to challenge #3 Duke this weekend.
