URBANA ILLINOIS (CHAMBANA TODAY)- On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at approximately 12:03 PM, the Urbana Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the vicinity of the 1200-1300 block of Brookstone Court. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered at least four shell casings near the entrance to the Hamilton on the Park Apartments, located at 1201 Brookstone Ct. Additionally, gunfire struck a window at the apartment complex’s office. Presently, there is no clear indication of a motive or intended target in this incident. Despite the proximity to Booker T. Washington School, there is currently no evidence to suggest the involvement of the school or any students in the shooting. Police are actively investigating the matter and gathering facts surrounding the incident. As of now, no victims have come forward.
The Urbana Police Department is aware that there was vehicle and foot traffic in the area at the time of the shooting and emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents.
