CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois cornerback Xavier Scott was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. Scott forced three turnovers in Illinois’ 23-17 win over #19 Kansas. The victory was Illinois’ highest ranked non-conference win since 1995.
Scott had two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, one forced fumble, a sack, and eight solo tackles in Saturday’s game in front of a sold-out stadium. Scott is the only player in the country to force three turnovers in a single game this season.
Scott and the Illini are home again this weekend for Homecoming against Central Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium.
