CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois Women’s Basketball Team soared to a 73-50 victory over Southern Indiana at State Farm Center Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Fighting Illini earned their 50th triumph under head coach Shauna Green.
Berry Wallace led the way, posting a career-high 18 points, including 12 in the second quarter, and three 3-pointers. It was the first time Wallace scored in double figures. She was joined in double digits by Adalia McKenzie with 16 points, Genesis Bryant who scored 12 points with seven assists, and Kendall Bostic who finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds—her seventh double-double of the season.
Illinois opened the game strong, but after a tight first quarter, the Illini took control in the second with a dominant 15-0 run, holding Southern Indiana scoreless for nearly nine minutes. By halftime, Illinois led 28-17.
The Illini expanded their lead in the third, going on a 12-0 run to push the lead to 44-23. Illinois closed the game with a 14-1 run, finishing with a comfortable 23-point victory.
Illinois will wrap up its nonconference schedule Friday at noon against Southern University at State Farm Center.
