SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Fair is returning to Springfield this August with a theme that promises excitement, exploration, and endless family fun: “Adventure Awaits.” The 2025 fair opens on Thursday, August 7, and runs through Sunday, August 17, offering 11 days of agricultural showcases, thrilling carnival rides, live performances, delicious food, and cherished traditions.

The festivities will begin with the annual Twilight Parade, stepping off at 5:30 p.m. on opening day. The parade will wind through Lincoln Park and Sangamon Avenue before entering the fairgrounds through the Main Gate, marching down Main Street, past the Grandstand, and exiting through Lot 21. From marching bands to community groups and creative floats, the parade sets the tone for a vibrant celebration.

Opening day highlights include $5 admission for adults, $3 for seniors, and free entry for children 12 and under. Carnival rides open at noon, with each ride costing just $3 for the day. A “Double the Fun” parking deal also allows attendees to return with free parking on August 12, 13, or 14 after paying to park on opening day.

The evening will roar to life with the return of the Monsters of Destruction event at 7:30 p.m. in The Arena. Organizers recommend entering through Gate 6 to avoid parade traffic. Tickets and more information about fair events can be found at statefair.illinois.gov.
