RANTOUL, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY)- A Rantoul man is in custody following an investigation into a murder from April 15, 2024. Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and the Rantoul Police Department responded to the shooting death of Jonalberto Guadalupe Sanchez, 24 years old, of Rantoul, near the intersections of 3200 North and County Road 1800E in Rantoul Township.
The investigation indicated victim Guadalupe Sanchez was in a dispute with Argenis Rincon over a previous
relationship and the two agreed to meet at the location. The encounter concluded with Guadalupe Sanchez being
shot in the upper torso and being transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he later succumbed to the injuries
he sustained from the shooting.
On May 8, 2024, Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Argenis Rincon, 32 years old, of Rantoul, at the Champaign County
Sheriff’s Office at approximately 12:44 p.m. Rincon was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center and was charged with Murder.
Sheriff’s Detectives continue to actively investigate this murder.
