PAXTON, IL (Chambana Today) – The Paxton Police Department is continuing its investigation into an armed robbery that occurred on the evening of December 27 at Paxton Variety Liquors. The incident took place at around 6 p.m. at the store, located at the corner of South Railroad Avenue and East Patton Street.
Paxton Police Chief Coy Cornett confirmed that two men entered the liquor store, displayed firearms, and stole an undisclosed amount of money. A witness to the robbery reported seeing the suspects arrive in a gold sedan, which they parked across two spaces on the side of the building. The men were observed leaving the store minutes later, and the witness mentioned that they appeared calm enough that it wasn’t initially clear it was a robbery.
The witness only realized the crime had occurred after a friend shared a social media post with details about the incident. No arrests had been made, and no injuries were reported. The police are still searching for the two suspects and are reviewing nearby security footage to gather more evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
