Back-to-school week should mean careful drivers

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – As Champaign and Urbana schools return this week, it is important for the community to observe traffic signs and speed limits in school zones. Children and teenagers are running from the school to cars or buses, and running from cars and buses into the buildings or onto playgrounds. In Champaign Unit 4 School District, Kindergartners and 9th graders started Monday, August 12; the first day of school for the rest of the grades is Tuesday, August 13. In Urbana School District 116, the first day of school for half of the kindergarten students is Thursday, August 15. Grades 1-9 and 9 also start on Thursday. On Friday, August 16, all grades will be in attendance, including the other half of the kindergarten classes.
