CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The timeless music of Carole King takes center stage at the Virginia Theatre this summer as the Champaign Urbana Theatre Company (CUTC) and J. Barry Howell present the Tony and Grammy Award-winning production “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.”
The show runs Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, August 3, with evening performances at 7 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.
Telling the inspiring true story of Carole King’s rise from a teenage songwriter in Brooklyn to one of the most celebrated musicians of all time, Beautiful features unforgettable hits like “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Natural Woman,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” and “So Far Away.” The musical also highlights the powerhouse writing duo of Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, whose songs defined a generation.
The cast features Caitlin Richardson as Carole King, with Ty Hudson as Gerry Goffin, Tina Radi as Cynthia Weil, Jake Fava as Barry Mann, Aaron Clark as Don Kirshner, and Lyndzie Taylor as Genie Klein.
