BLOOMINGTON, IL (Chambana Today) — A Bloomington man is facing 25 felony charges following an extensive investigation by the Illinois State Police (ISP) into suspected drug and gun trafficking in McLean County.
Sherez A. Boykins, 45, was arrested after ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5 Task Force 6, with assistance from the Bloomington Police Department Street Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant at his Fuller Court residence on February 6. Officers recovered six loaded firearms, ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other narcotic pills.
The McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges including two counts of manufacture and delivery of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, 14 counts of possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and several other felony charges. Boykins is being held at the McLean County Jail pending his first court appearance. Authorities say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
