CHAMPAIGN, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY)- Jamie Ulrey, General Manager of the Illini Radio Group, today announced the appointment of Cailey Davern as the Editor-in-Chief of the upcoming ChambanaToday online news service, with a strong determination to enhance local journalism.

Hailing from New Lenox, Illinois, Cailey Davern graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School in 2016. She pursued her education at Joliet Junior College, earning an Associates in Arts degree, followed by a Cum Laude Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media from DePaul University. Throughout her college years, Davern amassed valuable experience through various internships, including roles in communications and marketing at BBT Edventures and Do312, research at the National Association of Women in Business, and strategic communication at CHOICE Humanitarian and the American Red Cross. Post-graduation, she resided in Chicago, contributing to the American Cancer Society and overseeing a music publication named Underground Apex.

Assuming her new position, Davern expressed her eagerness to lead ChambanaToday, prioritizing journalistic integrity, community engagement, and the delivery of accurate and timely news to the residents of Champaign-Urbana and beyond. She stated, “I am excited to spearhead this initiative and foster local news. My aspiration is for this platform to offer free, hyper-local news that resonates with the community, facilitating unity in the community.”
