DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – The C&EI Railroad Historical Society’s 2025 Annual Meeting is set to be a landmark event this year, as for the first time, it will be open to the public. The event will be held on Saturday, April 12, at the Vermilion County Museum, located at 116 N. Gilbert Street in Danville. This is an exciting opportunity for railroad enthusiasts and the general public to explore and learn about the rich history of local railroads.
From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., visitors can explore various vendors and displays as well as tour the Museum Center. The museum will offer insights into the region’s railroad history, with displays showcasing rare artifacts, photos, and memorabilia.
At 1:45 p.m., attendees can enjoy a fascinating program by Davis Forbes, who will dive into the topic of “Passenger Trains on the C&EI.” Following that, at 3:00 p.m., Rick Schroeder will present a session on “Oaklawn Shops,” offering a closer look at the historical significance of this site. The day will conclude with an interactive Questions and Answers session from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., giving attendees the chance to ask questions and discuss railroad history with experts and fellow history buffs.
