CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a nonpartisan civics competition for middle school students.
This opportunity is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students residing in Illinois, who are invited to submit an essay focusing on how civics can be used to improve their community. The competition not only encourages students to engage with their civic responsibilities but also offers them a chance to win recognition and cash prizes.

Finalists from the local competition will be invited to compete in the National Civics Bee® national championship, which will take place in Washington, D.C., in Fall 2025. This initiative aims to boost civic knowledge throughout Illinois and celebrate local pride in democracy.
