CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Coroner has identified an 18-year-old who was shot and killed in Champaign on January 9. Nicholas M. Griffin, of Champaign, was pronounced dead at 4:28 p.m. that day.
Champaign Police responded to a shooting call at 4 p.m. on the 1900 block of Cynthia Drive. Upon arrival, they found Griffin with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Police stated that Griffin and his companions were in a vehicle in a parking lot when someone opened fire on them. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
