CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department quickly contained a fire at Parkland College on Tuesday, March 4, at 1:37 p.m. The fire broke out in a fume extractor and dust collector outside Building “T” at 2400 W. Bradley Ave.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the equipment outside the building. After ensuring all occupants were safely evacuated, firefighters worked to gain access to the fire and extinguish it. A single hose line was deployed, and the fire was fully extinguished using less than 1500 gallons of water.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among civilians or emergency responders. The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, and the Champaign Fire Department is continuing to investigate.
