CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a residence in the 1600 block of Normandy Dr., Wednesday at 1:08 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.

Firefighters were alerted to a report from an occupant of a fire in this single-family residence. Crews reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story residence. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines into the home and an additional line to protect the adjacent home from any spreading. A neighboring home did sustain damage from the heat of the fire.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.  The home was heavily damaged by the fire.
