DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A 31-year-old Champaign man was arrested Monday evening after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of over 500 grams of cannabis and an illegal firearm.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a Danville Police Officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Crestview Drive for registration and equipment violations. Upon further investigation, the officer noticed signs of illegal drug activity inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Michael A. Glover-Napper of Champaign, was found to be in possession of more than 500 grams of cannabis and an unlicensed firearm. Glover-Napper was arrested and taken to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, where he was booked on charges of Possession of Cannabis over 500 grams and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The Danville Police Department stressed that these charges are only accusations, and Glover-Napper is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
