CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A Champaign man who volunteered for youth organizations and performed as a DJ has pleaded guilty to selling child pornography. With his plea, eight other counts of child-pornography charges against Dante J. Scott, 29, were dismissed. As part of the plea agreement, he will serve 20 years in prison, instead of the standard maximum of 30 years.

Prior to his arrest in September, Scott worked as the entertainment manager of The Beat program promoting downtown Champaign. He also performed as “DJ Slim,” a name that appeared in usernames of some of the online usernames he used to distribute child pornography.

Scott was reported last year by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to the Illinois State Police. The agency reported it had received tips from digital media companies flagging accounts connected to Scott’s name and phone number. The tips indicating he was possibly producing child pornography of a 10-year-old girl.

Investigators found that Scott was disseminating images of the child through 11 different Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Back on September 9, 2024, police executed a search warrant on Scott’s home and arrested him. He is scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing in May. He remains in custody.
