CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Police Department was dispatched at 3:16 p.m. on Friday, October 3 to the 1000 block of South Neil Street for a report of a bank robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect entered the bank and demanded money while threatening staff. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency. No injuries were reported, and there is no evidence that a weapon was displayed or discharged during the robbery.

Officers quickly searched the area for the man and continue to canvass the surrounding area for witness and video footage that may be of assistance. Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to notify the police department. No arrests have been made at the time, and the investigation is ongoing.
