CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign-Urbana Resistance Effort (CURE), a grassroots organization dedicated to defending democracy against the threats posed by the Trump administration, will host its third rally on Saturday, Nov. 1. The rally will take place at the Champaign County Courthouse from 11 a.m. to noon, and the public is encouraged to attend.
This rally is being held exactly one year before the 2026 general election, where CURE hopes to inspire change and begin the process of undoing the damage done to American institutions, democratic norms, and justice over the course of the Trump era. The event is part of CURE’s “Start the Change” initiative, a call for action in the next 12 months to restore civility, bipartisanship, and fairness to the U.S. political landscape.
The rally will feature live music and speeches from local leaders. Previous CURE events, such as the March for Democracy on March 29 and the March for Moms on May 10, attracted over a thousand supporters, showcasing the growing momentum for democratic renewal in Central Illinois.
