CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A 67-year-old woman has been arrested following an investigation into the fatal stabbing of 71-year-old W. B. Curry in November 2024. Dewandee Carter of Champaign has been charged with First-Degree Murder after a lengthy investigation into the domestic altercation that led to Curry’s death.
On the evening of November 16, 2024, the Champaign Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 2000 block of Cynthia Drive at 5:19 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Curry unresponsive in his home with a potentially life-threatening stab wound. Despite immediate attempts at lifesaving measures by police officers and Champaign Fire Department personnel, Curry was later pronounced dead at the scene.
