CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A Champaign man has been charged for his role in a June 8, shooting incident that hospitalized two teenagers, leaving one in critical condition.
Kejuan Jenkins, 27, of Champaign, was found to be responsible for the gunfire, and charges have been filed against him.
On June 8 at 10:19 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of Burr Oak Court following reports of a shooting with injuries.
On the scene, officers located a 13-year-old with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds and immediately began to render medical aid. The teen was transported to a local hospital, where he remains and is receiving treatment. Additionally, a 15-year-old victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the hand was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
The investigation indicated that multiple subjects were involved in an altercation in the area when shots were fired, and that the victims were struck. The gathered group then quickly fled before officers arrived on the scene. Additional damage was found to one building and one vehicle. Investigators determined that Kejuan Jenkins was among those responsible for the gunfire.
Jenkins was already in the custody of Champaign County Correctional Center on unrelated charges. On June 2025, Jenkins was charged with attempted murder.
