DANVILLE, Il. (Chambana Today) — The City of Danville proudly announced the continuation of its First Friday events, which is now in its fifth year. First Friday’s is a 12-month event series held on the first Friday of each month that offers either free or low-cost events to the community.
The series is funded through sponsorships secured by the City’s Community Relations Department, ensuring the program remains affordable for residents without relying on taxpayer dollars.
The 2026 season is here, and organizers are proud to share this year’s event schedule. All area families are invited to come downtown on the first Friday of every month. Join friends and neighbors, create meaningful connections and help shape downtown Danville into the vibrant destination you want it to be!

Schedule of Events:
February 6: Glow in the Galaxy held at Illini Skateland, where you can dance, roll, glow and explore glowing games, hunt for constellations under a ceiling of stars. With neon lights, spacey surprises and backlight fun at every turn. This out-of-the-world party will be leaving you glowing from head to toe!
March 6: Danville’s Got Talent: Best of the Best. It’s showdown of the stars at the Fischer Theatre. Watch your favorite past performer team up for exciting duets before stepping into the spotlight for their solo acts. Who will shine brightest this year?
April 3: Danville Olympics at Temple Plaza. Let the games begin at Danville Olympics! Teams compete in a rotation of mini tailgate challenges hosted by local groups, all working their way up the leader board for prizes and bragging rights. With stadium snacks, brew tents, live music and free-play sports games for everyone. This night is a win all around!
May 1: 5k Super Run: Power up for the 5k Super Run, where every step takes you through a world of adventure! From mushrooms and ghosts to rainbows and bananas, racers will explore themed zones inspired by their favorite video games.
June 5: Summer Luau: Escape to a tropical downtown Oasis at the Summer Luau! Enjoy island eats, live music, fruity drinks and sweet treats as you lounge under tents. This laid back night brings the vacation vibes to you, with no flight required!
July 5: Downtown Carnival from 5 to 8 p.m. at Temple Plaza. Come kick off the holiday weekend with the Downtown Carnival! Perfect for families, friends and everyone ready to celebrate summer together!
August 7th: Science in the City at Temple Plaza, where kids can start their school year with a day full of science and discovery at Science in the City!
September 4th: Discover Danville. Come Discover a little bit more about Danville like never before, while experiencing foods, music, and cultures from around the world!
October 2nd: Progressive Dinner, Downtown Danville, where guests will journey through buildings in Downtown Danville with a multi-course meal and live, spooky storytelling!
November 6th: PotterFest 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Downtown Danville. Dive into a spellbinding night filled with enchanting activities, mystical treats, and magical surprises!
December 4th: Night of Lights Parade from 6 to 8 p.m. starting at the corner of Williams and Vermilion streets. Light up your holiday spirits at the Danville Night of Lights Parade through downtown Danville!
