URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana will unveil its new website, urbanail.gov, on Friday, December 13, replacing a platform that has served the community for over a decade. Mayor Diane Wolfe Marlin described the updated site as “accessible, timely, and responsive to community needs,” emphasizing its improved navigation and streamlined maintenance, thanks to a standardized template and style guide.
The redesign was a two-year effort that began with an in-depth analysis of how the public utilized the previous website. City officials examined which information and services residents sought, how they accessed it, and how effectively it was communicated.
City staff across all departments played a key role, reviewing and revising content to ensure clarity and conciseness. The project was overseen by Executive Coordinator Kathryn Brickman Levy and the city’s Information Technology manager, in collaboration with CivicPlus, a web development platform specializing in municipal websites.
“The result is a new website that is ADA-compliant and mobile-friendly,” Mayor Marlin said. “It integrates with other online tools and provides improved access to forms, applications for permits, licenses, and online payments. Replacing our outdated website has been a goal since I took office, but like many other projects, it was delayed by COVID. I’m thrilled that we are now ready to launch.”
