CHAMPAIGN_URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) Champaign and Urbana are experiencing very cold winter weather with frigid temperatures through the end of the week. A mix of sun and clouds is expected early in the period, but temperatures will remain well below normal with dangerous wind chill values at times.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning with temperatures from negative to teens all week.
Tuesday, Jan. 27: Partly sunny with some patchy blowing snow possible early. Highs near 18–19°F, with lows falling below zero overnight.
Wednesday, Jan. 28: Very cold with clouds increasing; highs in the mid-teens to upper teens and overnight lows around –2°F to –3°F.
Thursday, Jan. 29: Cold and mostly cloudy, with highs in the low-to-mid teens and lows near 0°F to –4°F.
Friday, Jan. 30: Cold but mainly dry conditions. Highs near 5°F to 6°F and overnight lows around –1°F to –2°F.
Wind chills will make it feel much colder than the actual temperatures, especially overnight. Hazardous conditions and risk remain in place all week.
