MAHOMET, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to a burglary at a Mahomet restaurant earlier this month.
According to authorities, police were called at about 4 a.m. Feb. 3 to the McDonald’s located at 1006 S. Purnell Drive after employees arriving to open the business discovered it had been broken into overnight.
Investigators said the suspect attempted to use a power tool to cut into the restaurant’s safe. Surveillance video from the area shows a single individual walking to and from the business between 3 and 3:30 a.m.
The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored ballcap and mask, along with a black jacket, jeans and sneakers, and was carrying a black duffle bag.
