DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A Danville man was arrested Thursday morning following a domestic disturbance that resulted in a brief standoff with police.

At approximately 11:02 a.m., Danville Police officers responded to a call in the 1000 block of West Columbia Street. They found a victim outside the home with a facial laceration and were told the suspect — identified as Timothy Lukas — was still inside the residence with another family member.

Lukas refused to exit the home, prompting officers to surround the property. A crisis negotiator was able to contact Lukas by phone, and after several minutes, he allowed police inside to check on the other individual. Lukas was then taken into custody without further incident.

He was booked into the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges including Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Danville Police Department at (217) 431-2250 or report anonymously through Vermilion County Crimestoppers at vccrimestoppers.org or 217-446-TIPS (8477).
