DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Police Department responded on January 8, 2026, to a report of a phone-in threat involving a possible school shooting directed at an unidentified local school.

Officers immediately coordinated with the Danville School District to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community. Precautionary safety measures were taken while police worked to locate the source of the threat.

Investigators identified the source as a juvenile, who was taken into custody and charged with making a terroristic threat, disorderly conduct involving a threat of violence on school property, and disorderly conduct for reporting a false alarm via 9-1-1.
