DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested early Tuesday morning, April 29, following a foot pursuit with Danville Police near Bowman Avenue and Meadow Street. Officers stopped the individual just after midnight for being underage and out past curfew.
During the interaction, officers suspected the teen was carrying a firearm. When questioned, the juvenile fled on foot. After a short chase, officers apprehended the suspect and recovered a loaded handgun nearby.
The teen was arrested and transported to the Danville Public Safety Building, where they were booked on multiple charges, including Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon—Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Resisting a Peace Officer.
The juvenile is being held at the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.
