DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – School District 118 in Danville has transitioned to an e-learning day today due to excessive heat expected in the area.
“Due to the forecasted excessive heat on Tuesday, Aug. 27, we have decided to transition to an e-learning day for the safety and well-being of our students and families,” the district released on Monday, Aug. 26.
All students are expected to participate in e-learning at home, following the schedules provided by their teachers. Additionally, all extracurricular after school and evening activities are canceled.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Vermilion County from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. The heat index values are anticipated up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Drink water, stay inside as much as possible, avoid the sun, and make sure your pets are inside and have plenty of water.
