DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — An anonymous threat led to the closure of all Danville District 118 schools Monday morning, as police launched an investigation into a call warning of a possible school shooting.

According to the Danville Police Department, the district’s administrative staff received a call around 8 a.m. on November 3, 2025, in which the caller stated, “school shooting, 10 a.m.,” before hanging up.

District 118 officials immediately notified Danville Police School Resource Officers, who began investigating while schools entered a soft lockdown as a precaution.

Due to the seriousness of the threat, district administrators decided to cancel all school activities and dismiss students early.

Police say the investigation remains active as they work to identify the caller. No additional details have been released.
