CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – At 10:43 a.m. on Thursday, the Champaign Fire Department responded to a working fire in the 3300 block of Boulder Ridge Drive.

Fire crews were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of a duplex, and multiple hose lines inside and outside the unit were quickly deployed to extinguish an exterior fire that had traveled into the attic.

A press release from the department shared that all occupants had exited the house by the time responders arrived, and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds residents to have working smoke detectors in all areas of the house to prevent and detect fires.
